Daily Prayer
O Divine Teacher, You knew Judas was about to betray You and yet You did not strike him down. Instead, You shared Your Last Supper with him. You let him struggle. You let him make a free choice. You allow us the same freedom in our lives. Help us to use our gift of freedom to serve You and Your people so that we may be worthy to possess the heavenly Kingdom. Amen

Matthew 26:18
He [Jesus] said,
“Go into the city to a certain man and tell him,
‘The teacher says, “My appointed time draws near;
in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples”.’”
Reflection
As Jews Jesus and His disciples had to celebrate the Passover in Jerusalem. It was one of the three times of the year when all Jews are called to Jerusalem. They waited until first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the last day possible, to enter the holy city because they knew the religious leaders were looking for Jesus to arrest and kill Him. With all of Israel gathered in Jerusalem, accommodations are scarce.
Yet Jesus trusts His Father to provide what He needs. As in the reading on Palm Sunday, also from the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus instructs His disciples where to procure what they need for the Passover.
Reflection Questions
When God speaks to me today, will I be attentive to His voice?
When I pray, am I confident that God will provide whatever I truly need?
