Scripture Quote

Jeremiah 17:7-8a
[Thus says the Lord:]
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
whose hope is in the Lord.
He is like a tree planted beside the waters
that stretches out its roots to the stream.

Reflection

We are reminded to put our trust in God, not in our own understanding. When we trust God, we ask Him to guide our footsteps. Trust does not mean bad things won’t befall us, but it does mean we have faith that the bad is part of a greater plan.

For Jeremiah, God was the “hope of Israel” and the “source of living water” (Jeremiah 17:13). That hope is in the Resurrection so that we might have eternal life. When our hope is in the Lord, then we can drink the living waters and receive all spiritual nourishment from God.

Reflection Questions

How can I deepen my trust in God’s promises to me?

Am I hopeful in my life?
