Lenten Reflection for 3/30

Fifth Thursday of Lent

Daily Prayer

Almighty Ever-Living God, who is the creator and ruler of all things and our Father through the grace of adoption, kindle the faith of the people You have made your own. Look upon us that we may feel the working of Your Love and grant that we may serve You with all our heart.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Scripture Readings

Genesis 17:3-9; John 8:51-59

Scripture Quote

Genesis 17:7

The Lord appeared to Abram and said:

“I will maintain my covenant with you
and your descendants after you
throughout the ages as an everlasting pact,
to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.”

Reflection

How powerful to hear the words of God’s covenant!

As Christians who share a belief in the God of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac, and Jacob, we too are called to live the covenant established by God and God’s people. We are heirs of this covenant through adoption. In that instant when the Lord announces He is our God, we immediately inherited God’s love and mercy, Jesus’ compassion and teachings, the goodness of moral people, the courage of martyrs, the communion of saints, and the sure knowledge that God will triumph. All of this points to the existence of a living, personal God

Reflection Questions

Do I serve God and others as I should?

Do I pray to God personally, opening my heart to Him?

The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate care for the spiritual and physical needs of the poor and abandoned members of the Body of Christ by taking on the most difficult missions in the US and world. Will you support us today in your prayers and gifts?
