Daily Prayer and Reading 11/28

Audio of daily prayer read by Fr. Uribe OMI

We all have bad habits, Lord. We eat in excess, spend too much time on our gadgets, spend too much money on frivolous things, neglect our prayer life, spend too much time working…the list goes on. Open our eyes to our faults, Lord. Help us to peel away our bad habits so that we can be closer to You. Amen.

Luke 21: 1-4

Matthew 8:5-11

When Jesus entered Capernaum,
a centurion approached him and appealed to him, saying,
“Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully.”
He said to him, “I will come and cure him.”
The centurion said in reply,
“Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof;
only say the word and my servant will be healed.
For I too am a man subject to authority,
with soldiers subject to me.
And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes;
and to another, ‘Come here,’ and he comes;
and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him,
“Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith.
I say to you, many will come from the east and the west,
and will recline with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
at the banquet in the Kingdom of heaven.”

This week the Oblates in Thailand are praying for you.

One of these Oblates is Fr. June Khaeser, O.M.I. who is the Pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Petchabun. In addition to running a large parish, Fr. June also helps out at the local school. His interest is for the poor, for the weakest and those on the periphery. “For me, poverty, discomfort is a great lesson. I always wonder how a handicapped, poor, abandoned person can be happy. When I sit next to them, when I listen to them, I discover their world, a world of suffering certainly, but also a world of struggle against hopelessness and despair that make them strong and able to win the battle over depression. The smile I see on their lips tells me that life is stronger than pain, that life makes sense even when the evidence seems to deny it. Their stories are a great lesson for me to help me have an experience of faith; I see God at work in their pain.”

Abre nuestros ojos a nuestras faltas, Señor.

Take the next step to strengthen your prayer life

We all could use some healing in our life. And prayer is the best way for us to communicate our needs with God.

Healing Prayers is a wonderful prayer book created by the Missionary Oblates for all those who long for the healing power of the Lord. For these persons, this prayer book has been written in faith and hope that, united in prayer, we might all experience healing of body, mind and spirit in every aspect of our lives.
