Daily Prayer and Reading 1/17

Morning Offering

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father this month. Amen

Daily Prayer & Reading for January 17, 2023

Lord, the world is starting to reawaken after the long pandemic. But now we see so many side effects of the struggle we endured. Families are struggling to afford trips to the grocery store. Children are suffering from mental health crises. Businesses can’t find staff to work. The list goes on. Be with us as we pick up the pieces and try to find our new “normal.” Give us the strength and courage to look at the world with new eyes. Amen.

Mark 2: 23-28

As Jesus was passing through a field of grain on the sabbath,
his disciples began to make a path while picking the heads of grain.
At this the Pharisees said to him,
“Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?”
He said to them,
“Have you never read what David did
when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry?
How he went into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest
and ate the bread of offering that only the priests could lawfully eat,
and shared it with his companions?”
Then he said to them,
“The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath.
That is why the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.”
