Tuesday of the Second Week of Lent
Daily Prayer
God of everlasting mercy, sometimes the greatest cross we must bear is our own weakness. Bring light to those corners of our hearts that we try to hide from ourselves. Help us with our stubbornness and resistance to change and make us eager to accept Your invitation to grow. Increase the grace You have bestowed so that all may know in what font they have been washed, by whose Spirit they have been reborn, by whose blood they have been redeemed. Amen

Reflection
Continuing yesterday’s theme of mercy, the prophet Isaiah tells us that God offers forgiveness and cleansing to us. We don’t always resist the temptation to sin. With God’s help, we can confess our sin and expose our heart. We offer our scarlet sin to God so that He can cleanse it, cleaning it even to the point of making scarlet, white.
Making more of an effort during Lent softens our hearts, makes us humble, makes us open to God’s mercy. God always offers His mercy. He wants us to return to Him to “set things right.” A clean heart create for me, O God

How can I make penance more genuine in my life?
Do I extend to others the same mercy I seek from the Lord?
