Daily Prayer
Good and Gracious God, who hascommanded us to listen to Your beloved Son, nourish us by Your Word that we may grow in understanding this Lent.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Reflection
The Word of God that we hear on this Second Sunday of Lent speaks to us of uncertainty, of the need to face the unknown as a path to glorification. God’s call to Abraham is demanding: he must leave his country and its possessions and set out for an unknown land – the Promised Land. Abraham trusted God and accepted the uncertainty that his Lord proposed to him.
Jesus is transfigured before three of his Apostles, and they are excited. He draws them to the glory of the Lord in such a way that they would have remained, contemplating it forever. But Jesus has other plans for his disciples. “Rise, and do not be afraid,” Jesus tells them, inviting them to continue on the road to Jerusalem where they would have to face the test of the cross.
As disciples of Jesus, we are called to share in the glory that is manifested in His Transfiguration. But first we must accept the uncertainty of walking through life surrounded by crosses and insecurities. When Jesus speaks to us about the need to lose, to renounce, to surrender, He is exposing us to those uncertainties that we are going to have to face in our walk on earth. It is a painful path, but hopeful, because our glorification is found in the final goal.
